WiFi Access

As in previous years, the Smart City Summit is pleased to work with sponsors to broadband enable our trade show and conference. For 2003, Telecom Ottawa will be providing broadband service to the Trade Show and Conference. Exhibitors BELNET Communications and Plaintree will be providing the wireless service at the Show. Storm Internet will be providing wireless point-to-point access in the conference rooms.

The trade show floor will be broadband enabled through WiFi technology, meaning that all exhibits will have wireless access to broadband services if required. Typically, dial-up broadband service (ISDN) at a trade show would range from $300 - $800 per connection. We have been able to secure complimentary service, with either no charges or minimal hook-up charges.

The attached form is a request for WiFi broadband internet from BELNET. We are advised that most recently manufactured laptops are WiFi enabled, however, if your laptop or desktop is not WiFi enabled, you may need to rent a PCMIA WiFi card or USB device for your computer. BELNET is making these available at a minimal rental charge if you require one. Please refer to the bottom portion of the attached order form.

Please note: Any devices operating in the ISM band or 2.4ghz or WiFi should contact BELNET to ensure that frequencies are co-ordinated correctly.

Orders must be received by BELNET by April 11th.

If you have any questions, please contact Val Kelly at (613) 786-2619, ext. 221, or email val@expocorpinc.com.
