Show Doubles in
Size
January 20, 2003 - Based on the successes of 2002, the Smart
City Summit is expanding to feature more exhibits and expanded
conference venues. Taking place again at Lansdowne Park in
Ottawa, the Show will be spread over two buildings-the Civic
Centre and the Aberdeen Pavilion. The Exhibition will take
place in the 35,000 feet of space in the Aberdeen Pavilion
and will feature interactive seminars, plus approximately
200 tabletop exhibits
and trade show booths. The conference has expanded to
take over all of the Civic Centre Salons, adding much needed
seminar space for break-outs, Keynotes and networking events.
The Show will also be one of the first events to leverage
major renovations being planned for the Civic Centre, as the
City of Ottawa undertakes aesthetic improvements that will
add to the overall appeal of the facility.

International
Focus is Key to the Smart City Summit
The Smart City Summit was built on the positive 20-year history
of the Ottawa Business Show and Commerce. With the addition
of a national level conference, the Summit has drawn the attention
of several international delegations to add to its loyal audience
of Ottawa and eastern Ontario visitors. Seven delegations
attended the 2002 event, from China, the Netherlands, Great
Britain, the United States, Sweden and Norway, and in 2003
the trend is continuing. See the conference program for our
line-up of International speakers from Holland, South Africa,
Latin America, Australia, and the Smart
Community International Network (SCIN). Additional countries
are expected to attend the event and Show management is working
on adding international elements to the Trade Show floor.
International delegates will be invited to join a series of
tours and visits around Ottawa being organized by OCRI and
the Government of Ontario on April 28th, the day prior to
the Conference and Show opening. Interested International
delegates should contact show
management for a schedule of events. Stay tuned for more
developments.

Solutions and Media Sponsor, the Ottawa Citizen, will be broadcasting
live from the Show Floor on April 29 and 30. Host Janet Eastman

exhibitors throughout the Show.

Smart Office
Expo an Innovative Twist to the Smart City Summit
Being "smart" is not just about the Internet and broadband
applications. The right combination of vision, infrastructure
and applications can make any organization "smart". In 2003,
Expocorp has partnered with IFMA,
BOMA Ottawa, the Continental
Automated Buildings Association (CABA) and PWGSC
to expand the trade show exhibits into smart office design.
Capital
Office Interiors and Steelcase
have also partnered with Expocorp to develop a free seminar
program on the Smart Office. As a trade show and conference
on its own this area will be a dynamic visitor attraction,
but the positioning of the show alongside the Smart City Summit's
broadband focused trade show makes this new feature a must-see
for all visitors and delegates. See technology in the smart
office at the Smart City Summit.

Back-to-Back Innovation
Keynotes are Another Highlight of the Event
Government and business leaders will explore innovation topics
throughout the Summit, and two Keynotes will lead the discussion.
On April 29th, CATAAlliance has invited to feature
the Minister of Industry, Allan Rock in a Keynote Business
Dinner focusing on the Government of Canada's Innovation Agenda.
CATAAlliance will gather Mayors from across Canada
for this Keynote and wrap-up to their Tech Action Town Hall
Program. The next morning, April 30th, delegates will join
Ottawa's business community and members of The Ottawa Network,
TIE and Mindtrust for a Keynote Breakfast Power Panel on Innovation
and our Economy. Hosted by CTV
Tech Now's Paul Brent, this panel of Venture Capitalists
and business leader will explore how we can shape our economy
around innovative approaches to technology and business. This
back-to-back format will bring government and industry perspectives
to the Summit, and stir debate on our economic future as innovators.

Industry Canada

January 20, 2003 - The Smart City Summit will feature a major
exhibit of federal programs and services around e-communities
and innovation. including a presentation theatre and exhibits
from Industry Canada's Information Highway Applications Branch.

Communities Program will also host several Smart Communities
in their booth space and provide opportunities to make contact
and share information on projects underway in communities
across Canada.

the Aberdeen Pavilion. Delegates and Show visitors will be
